Man taken to hospital after M42 crash involving lorry and car

A man was taken to hospital after a lorry and a car collided near a busy junction on the M42 in Warwickshire[1]. The incident forced a closure of the northbound exit at Junction 9, for the M6[2] Toll and Curdworth.

The closure caused long tailbacks stretching to Junction 7A for Coleshill and the M6 link at Junction 4A. Motorists were told to follow a diversion from Junction 10 after the crash, which happened at about 10.15am.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent one ambulance, two paramedic officers and a MERIT trauma doctor to the scene. “On arrival, we discovered three patients,” WMAS spokesperson said.

“We treated a man for injuries not believed to be serious before he was taken to Heartlands Hospital. Two further patients were assessed and discharged at the scene.”

The exit slip road reopened shortly after 1pm. CoventryLive approached West Midlands Police[3] for comment.
