Recap: M5 reopens after car and lorry crash sparks traffic chaos near Bristol

A lane was closed on the M5 near Bristol following a crash this afternoon (September 28) which is causing significant delays. According to traffic monitoring[1] site Inrix, the collision involved a car and a lorry heading northbound at around 5.50pm.

There was slow traffic near junction 16 of the M5 motorway[2] which takes motorists onto the A38 Gloucester Road. All lanes reopened and traffic returned to normal by 6.15pm.

Inrix says: “Traffic returned to normal, earlier accident on M5 Northbound at J16 A38 Gloucester Road (Aztec West). Lane one (of three) was closed.”
