Schools pay tribute to kind and bubbly siblings who died with their dad in crash

Schools have paid tribute to two 'kind' and 'caring' pupils who were tragically killed in a car crash with their dad. The Palfrey Junior and Infant schools in Walsall have both released statements after the death of nine-year-old Zakir and four-year-old Maira.

The siblings died together along with Alomgir Hussain when their car crashed with a lorry on the A5 in Hinckley, Leicestershire, at around 4.20pm, last Friday (September 8). The deaths sparked an enormous outpouring of grief and sadness.

Heartbroken staff at Zakir's school said the youngster always had a 'smile on his face, had plenty of friends and approached everything with positivity'. Maira was described as 'bright and bubbly' and had a passion for learning and boundless enthusiasm.

A statement from Palfrey Junior School, read: "We are heartbroken over the tragic deaths of Zakir, his father and his little sister Maira. Zakir was a truly lovely person who always had a smile on his face. He embraced everything he did with such positivity and had many good friends because of his kind and caring nature.

"We are so proud that he was a pupil at Palfrey Junior School and we shall miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are now with his mother and the rest of the family."

A statement from Palfrey Infant School read: "Maira was a bright and bubbly member of Palfrey Infants. Since joining us as a full Nursery pupil last year she made a huge impression with her love of learning and enthusiasm.

"Maira had impeccable manners and was thoughtful towards her peers. Maira’s parents were active members of our school community. We remember the wonderful morning Maira and her dad spent in Forest School in June. Zakir had previously been a wonderful member of our school, we remember a cheerful boy with a wonderful smile.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with their mum and the wider family at this time."
