Teenage boy fighting for life after serious A382 collision
A 16-year-old boy is fighting for his life after he has sustained life-threatening injuries following a serious crash near Newton Abbot. The incident happened on the A382 at around 9.20pm last night (September 19).
The boy, who is local to the area, was a pedestrian when he was hit by an oncoming vehicle. He was swiftly taken to hospital for treatment having sustained life-threatening injuriesand the road was closed while an investigation was conducted by the Roads Policing Team.
His next of kin have been informed of his condition. Devon and Cornwall Police have thanked the public for their patience whilst the road was closed.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses to come forward if they have any information or dash cam footage that could help with enquiries. A spokesperson for the police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious road traffic collision on the A382.
"Officers were called to reports of a collision involving a van and a pedestrian on the A382 near Newton Abbot, at around 9.20pm on Tuesday, September 19. The pedestrian, a 16-year-old local boy, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. His next of kin have been informed.
"The road was closed while an investigation was conducted by the Roads Policing Team. Officers would like to thank the public for their patience whilst the road was closed. It reopened at around 5am on Wednesday, September 20.
