Tragedy as man, 74, dies after being hit by lorry on A15
A 74-year-old man has died after being struck by a lorry on the A15.
It is believed that the man had left a Suzuki Swift car after breaking down in a live lane of the road near Barton on Monday evening at around 8.10pm. Tragically, he was then hit by the lorry.
Sadly, the man died at the scene. Members of his family have been informed, police said.
The A15 and the Humber Bridge were closed in both directions overnight. The road reopened this morning.
Humberside Police are now appealing for witnesses to the crash, or anyone who saw the car before the collision, to come forward. A spokesperson for the force said: “Officers are appealing for information and dashcam footage after a man sustained fatal injuries in a collision on the A15 on Monday.
“We were called to reports that a lorry had collided with a pedestrian at around 8.10pm after it is thought that a Suzki Swift had broken down in a live lane on the A15, Barton. The man, aged 74, died at the scene and our thoughts remain with his family at this difficult time whilst they come to terms with their tragic loss.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have dashcam footage or who witnessed the collision, or saw the car prior to the collision, to contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 610 of 11 September.”
