Urgent appeal after A46 biker dies in lamppost crash near Gloucestershire border

Police have issued an urgent witness appeal following the death of a motorcyclist this week. Officers from West Mercia Police rushed to the scene on the A46 Evesham bypass at around 5.50pm on Wednesday (August 30).[1]

The force said a biker riding Honda motorcycle was travelling southbound from the direction of Salford Priors towards the Twyford roundabout when the crash happened. The vehicle left the road and collided with a lamppost.

The rider of the motorcycle – a man aged 48 – was pronounced dead at the scene. Police investigating the single-vehicle collision are appealing for witnesses, including any motorists on the road at the time with dash-cam footage.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Officers are appealing for witnesses following a collision on the A46 Evesham bypass involving one vehicle. At around 5.50pm on Wednesday, August 30, a Honda motorcycle was travelling southbound from the direction of Salford Priors towards the Twyford roundabout.

“At one point the vehicle left the road and collided with a lamppost. The rider of the motorcycle, a 48-year-old man, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers who are carrying out enquiries into the collision are appealing for witnesses, including any motorists on the road at the time with dash-cam footage. Anyone with information can contact PC Boswell by email [email protected][3] or by calling 07773042144.

This incident was one of two fatal crashes on the A46 on Wednesday. A motorcyclist aged in his 20s died[5] following a crash with a van on the road near Tewkesbury at around 4pm.
