West Lothian van driver arrested for drink driving and speeding on busy M9

Road officers have said that a van driver was arrested after he was found to be excessively speeding at 99 miles per hour on the busy M9.[1][2]

After stopping the motorist, Livingston Road Police conducted a breathalyser test and found that the driver had given a 45ug reading – the legal limit currently stands at 22ug.

They later provided a lower reading of 40ug when in custody but police say they have kept the individual in custody until they sober up.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the road officers added that the motorist would also be reported to the procurator fiscal following their arrest that took place at Junction three (southbound) of the M9.

Their post read: “#LivingstonRP stopped a Ford Connect van on the M9 at J3 (southbound) after it was detected being driven at 99mph.

“The driver also provided a reading of 45ug (limit 22ug) & was arrested. Provided a lower reading of 40ug and held in custody until sober.
