MORELAND HILLS, Ohio

Tree down, fire call-utilities: Chagrin Boulevard

First responders were called to a report of a tree falling on a car east of Chagrin River Road and taking down live wires in the process around 8:30 a.m. Aug. 25.

Firefighters arrived to find an uninjured woman inside the BMW. Rescue crews determined within 15 minutes that the electric company was no longer needed as police closed Chagrin Boulevard between Addison Lane and Bentleyville Road in order to clear the debris, with no further information available.

Trees down, various locations

Earlier on Aug. 25, police, fire and service crews responded to several reports of other downed trees, including one in front of the Chagrin Valley Country Club that landed on wires at 12:24 a.m. leading to an extended road closure.

Around 7:40 a.m., police planned to check back periodically to make sure that barricades set up at Pebblebrook Lane were not moved until all hazards were mitigated.

Two fallen trees were removed from Miles Road within 15 minutes as that street reopened at 12:46 a.m. Aug. 25.

Another large tree was reported to be blocking the roadway at Jackson and Chagrin River roads between 1:16 and 2:21 a.m. Aug. 25.

Back in an initial round of storms on Aug. 23, police responded to a 7:44 p.m. report of a tree down in a one-lane stretch of Bentleyville Road south of Chagrin Boulevard. The road was deemed passable with a Village Service Department crew en route.

Police also removed downed tree branches and debris in the roadway from Meadowhill Lane shortly before 11 p.m. 11 p.m. Aug. 23.

Noise complaint, Glen Road

A resident reported loud music being played in the area around 2:30 a.m. Aug. 28, saying that it had been going on since midnight, sounding like it was coming from several doors down, a distance estimated at 2 acres.

Police started with Pebblebrook Lane and eventually located a Toyota in a driveway on Glen Road with the radio playing. Officers made contact with the owner at 3:18 a.m. and they finally turned the music off.

Noise complaint: East Juniper Lane

Responding to a report of loud music being played by a neighbor around 8:40 p.m. Aug. 24, the resident in question agreed to turn the music down.

Police were called back at 9:02 and 9:43 p.m. on reports that the music had been turned back up again, although all was quiet upon arrival, officers said.

Motor vehicle accident (private property): Chagrin Boulevard

Police were called to an accident in the Flour parking lot at 7:21 p.m. Aug. 24, then went looking for a Porsche registered to an Orange Village resident who apparently left the scene.

No contact was made that night, although the driver in question called police the next morning and said she did not realize she had hit another car, with further investigation pending.

Harassing communications: Wiltshire Road

A resident reported Aug. 24 that a relative would not stop calling, with police making contact and telling them not to make any more unwanted calls there.

Parking complaint: Hickory Lane

A resident reported a tractor-trailer parked in front of his property at 1:45 p.m. Aug. 21, with police speaking to a work crew at a neighboring property about 30 minutes later.

An employee said they would be done soon and would park correctly in the future. On a subsequent complaint two days later (Aug. 23), contractors with a painting company agreed to move their vehicles from in front of the same resident’s house.

Fraud: SOM Center Road

Police responded back to the police station for at least three unspecified fraud complaints between Aug. 21 and 28, with further investigation pending.
