Woman tries to intentionally hit Streetsboro patrol car, crashes into house, police say

STREETSBORO, Ohio — A 25-year-old Streetsboro woman is being held in jail in Portage County after police say she tried to intentionally ram her vehicle into a policeman’s patrol car, but ended up going off the road and crashing into a house.

Shelby Bowen is charged with felonious assault on a police officer, a first-degree felony, following the incident Monday afternoon.

According to police, a patrol car was driving east on Ohio 303 at about 12:30 p.m. Bowen is accused of intentionally cutting through side streets and then trying to crash her 2014 Ford Fusion into the patrol car as it went north on Page Road.

Police accuse Bowen of traveling at high speeds when she ran a stop sign at the intersection of Root and Page roads and tried to hit the patrol car. Bowen ended up going behind the patrol car, over a driveway and drainage ditch, then through a yard before crashing into a home on the 9300 block of Page Road, police say.

No one was in the home, but the residence was damaged by the crash. Police say the motive for the incident remains unknown.

No injuries were reported.
