2 hospitalized after vehicle leaves I-96, crashes into tree

KENT COUNTY, MI – Two people were injured Monday, Oct. 2, when their vehicle left I-96 and crashed into a tree in the median, state police said.

The passenger, a 19-year-old woman, was thrown from the vehicle.

She and the driver, a 22-year-old man, were taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. Their conditions were not available.

The crash happened Monday night on eastbound I-96 near the Walker exit. The vehicle left the road before striking a tree in the median.

The crash remains under investigation, state police said.
