A11 diversion route as crash near Thetford leaves road closed near Norfolk and Suffolk border

Diversion routes are in place after a crash shut the A11 near the Norfolk/Suffolk[1] border tonight (Monday, October 2). A lorry has hit the central reservation between Barton Mills and Thetford.

The crash was first reported shortly before 9.30pm. Police, paramedics and firefighters are at the scene and drivers are being urged to avoid the area.

A National Highways spokesperson said: “The A11 in Norfolk is closed in both directions between the A1065 (Barton Mills) and the B1106 (Thetford) due to a collision, whereby a lorry has collided with the central reservation. Emergency services including Norfolk Police are in attendance and leading the scene.

Diversion routes:

Northbound traffic coming from Elvedon:

At Elveden crossroads turn left onto the B1106 and continue to the junction with Green Road. At the junction turn right onto Green Road and continue to the Junction with the B1107. At the junction turn right and continue on the B1107 to rejoin the A11 at the roundabout.

Southbound:

At the B1107 roundabout take the third exit to Brandon. Continue on the B1107 to the junction with Green Road. At the junction turn left and continue on Green Road to the Junction with the B1106. At the junction with the B1106 turn right and continue to the junction with the B1107. Turn left for the A1065 and continue through RAF Lakenheath to rejoin the A11 at Five Ways roundabout.
