A5 in Northamptonshire closed in both directions due to ‘serious multi vehicle’ collision
The A5 is closed between Crick and Watford Gap. (Photo: central stock) A “serious multi vehicle” collision has closed part of the A5 in Northamptonshire this afternoon (Tuesday October 24). The road is closed between Crick and Watford Gap, following a collision which happened around 2.20pm.
Emergency services are on the scene and the road is expected to be closed for “some time”, so drivers are advised to avoid the area. A Northamptonshire Police spokeswoman said: “This incident was reported at about 2.20pm today and involves two cars and a lorry. It happened near the Venture Caravans shop.”
Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service posted on X, formerly Twitter: “Emergency services are attending a road traffic incident on the A5 between Crick and Watford Gap Junction. “The road will be closed in both directions for some time and we are advising motorists to find an alternative route to avoid the area.” National Highways has also posted on X referring to the incident as a “serious multi vehicle” collision and urging drivers to avoid the road.
The police spokeswoman also advised motorists to avoid the area for the rest of the day as officers will remain on scene to deal with the inicdent.
