Man shot dead Gary and Joshua Dunmore at their homes
Stephen Alderton (Image: Cambridgeshire Police)Killer Stephen Alderton has been jailed for life after shooting dead a Cambridgeshire[4] father and son over a family court case involving his grandson.
Gary and Joshua Dunmore were gunned down at their homes in two villages a few miles apart in March this year. Police were called the gunshots at the pair's homes in Bluntisham and Sutton shortly after 9pm on March 29. Both men had been shot and killed.
Alderton, of no fixed address, was arrested in the early hours of the following morning by armed police on the M5 motorway near Worcester. The 67-year-old told police that "sometimes you have to do what you have to do even if it's wrong in the eyes of the law" before going on to plead guilty to murdering his daughter's ex-partner and his father at a hearing in June. Alderton, who wore a crucifix during sentencing, has been ordered to serve at least 25 years in prison at the same court following a hearing on Monday, October 23.

Michael Denman has been jailed for five years (Image: Cambridgeshire Constabulary)A man sent sexually explicit videos of himself to recipients he thought were children. Michael Denman, 34, sent a friend request and a video of himself engaged in a sex act to a Snapchat account on February 8. The two began a conversation, with the victim stating she was 14 and Denman claiming he was an 18-year-old man called Sam.
Denman, a registered sex offender from Cambridge[6], was not deterred by the victim's age and sent her 14 videos in two days, of which 13 were of him engaged in sex acts. Denman admitted inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity, three counts of causing a girl under 13 to look at sexual imagery, three of sexual communication with a child, and breaching requirements under the Sex Offenders Register. He was jailed for five years and given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order at Peterborough[7] Crown Court on Friday (October 20).

Saimon Novikas (Image: Cambridgeshire Constabulary)A dozy drug dealer was woken up by a dawn Cambridgeshire police raid. On 15 December last year, at about 6.30am, officers from the Neighbourhood Support Team carried out a drugs warrant at a flat in Avonside House, Fletton Quays, Peterborough[9]. Saimon Novikas, 30, was found asleep in one of the bedrooms and arrested after checks showed he was wanted for failing to appear in court in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, in relation to handling stolen goods.
A search of the flat uncovered about GBP450 worth of cannabis and drug paraphernalia, as well as high-value items that were seized including designer clothing and electrical goods. Novikas, of Alfred Road, Handsworth, Birmingham, denied any of the designer goods were his. He appeared at Peterborough Crown Court[10] on Thursday, October 26 to be sentenced.
Novikas was jailed for 18 months. Read the full story here[11].
