Dad killed in A5 crash named as fundraiser hits ?20000
The father who was killed along with his two children in a horror crash on the A5 last month has been named - and a fundraiser set up in their honour has made more than £20,000. Alomgir Hussain, who was in his 30s, was killed along with his four-year-old daughter and nine-year-old son after the car they were in collided with a lorry on Watling Street, near Hinckley, on Friday, September 8.
Alomgir's wife was also in the car at the time of the crash, and - according to a fundraiser set up in tribute of the dad and his two children - she suffered a miscarriage following the incident. Alomgir lived with his family in Walsall in the West Midlands, working in a noodle house in the town centre.
Previous reports by BirminghamLive[1] says that Alomgir was "beloved", with the news of his death leaving people "broken". A notice, posted on the shutters of his workplace, asked people to "please keep the family in your pious and humble duas", adding: "May Allah grant him and his family Jannatul Firdaus."

The fundraiser was set up in Alomgir's name as part of Sadaqah Jariyah, known as continuing charity. The page on JustGiving[3] explains: "When someone dies, their deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (continuing charity), knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for them."
The fundraiser's total will be donated to build water pumps and wells around the world, with 100 per cent of the proceeds being given to those projects. As of Friday, October 6, the fundraiser has hit its goal of £20,000 from 1,405 supporters - raising £21,810 in total with just four days to go.

The fundraiser finishes with "I ask you to make dua for them, but also his immediate family, Mother, Father and siblings who are all in shock and suffering from an unimaginable sadness and loss."
Following the incident, a change.org petition was set up calling for immediate action to be taken to make the A5 safer. It said: "Concerned residents of Hinckley[4] and surrounding areas are deeply saddened and disturbed by the increasing number of accidents and tragic incidents occurring on the A5 road near our town.
"It is with a heavy heart that this petition is started to urgently address the pressing need for a speed camera installation on this dangerous stretch."
Leicestershire Police appealed for anyone with dashcam footage or more information to come forward regarding the incident, quoting incident 523 of 8 September online at www.leics.police.uk or by calling 101.
