Devastated Leeds family’s tribute as ‘lovely gentleman’ teen son killed in double fatal car crash
The family of Polite Moyo have shared their heartbreak after his death in a car crash aged just 18.
The teen, described as “lovely” and “giving to everyone”, was sadly killed in a crash in Moortown on on Friday, September 29. A white Audi A3 left the road and hit a telegraph pole[1] near the junction of Parkside Road around 3.28am.
Moyo and a 19-year-old girl named Mayar were both pronounced dead at the scene. A third teenager, 18, is currently in hospital where he remains in critical condition. A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Polite’s family said: “Polite was a lovely handsome gentleman. Anyone who knew him knows he was caring and giving to everyone.
“Polite had a pure and beautiful soul and never failed to bring a smile to people’s faces. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.”
Flowers and tributes have been laid at the scene of a crash in Leeds where a two teenagers tragically died. There are also written notes, with sorrowful words written in tribute to the teenagers.
One reads: “My sweet angel, you are not only my daughter, you are my friend and my sister. I cannot believe we will not have are daily long chats again – but I promise I will always send you, love you and miss you already, my angel, Radwa.”
Another says: “I’ll miss you forever, P. You didn’t deserve this. Heart way too pure for this cruel world. Wish I could hear your voice just one last time, Polite. Rest in perfect perfect peace. Love, Haych.”
Officers from the Major Collision Enquiry Team (MCET) are continuing to appeal for anyone who was driving in the area or who lives along the route to check their dashcam or home CCTV for any relevant footage that could assist the investigation.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the white Audi A3 being driven in the area prior to the collision is asked to contact MCET officers as soon as possible.
