Drivers in court recently for speeding in Carmarthenshire

The drivers were caught speeding in Carmarthenshire – including two who were caught going 20mph over the limit. Their cases were heard at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court.

Here’s a round-up of the cases. ELIZABETH LLOYD, 75, of Parade Road in Carmarthen, was caught speeding in Llanddarog.

Lloyd was clocked by a manned speed camera on March 7 on the B4310 doing 52mph in a 30mph limit. She pleaded guilty, and was hit with six penalty points at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on October 3. Lloyd was also fined GBP192, and must pay GBP90 in costs and a GBP76 surcharge.

ADAM BEYNON, 33, of Ffordd Aneurin in Pontyberem, was clocked doing more than 70mph while a 50mph local traffic order was in place. Beynon was caught by a manned speed camera doing 71.7mph in a BMW on the B4309 Five Roads in Llanelli on March 18. He pleaded guilty at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on October 4.

BENJAMIN CALLAGHAN, 29, Ewenny Place in Clase, Swansea, was caught speeding in a van in Carmarthenshire. Callaghan was doing 40mph on the 30mph A476 at Gorslas on March 6. He pleaded guilty, and was fined GBP198 at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on October 3.

Callaghan must also pay costs of GBP90, and a GBP79 surcharge. He had three points put on his licence. DAVID MORGAN, 48, of Rhosmaen Street in Llandeilo, was accused of driving a Scania at 35mph on the 30mph B4333 at Hermon in Carmarthenshire on February 17.

Morgan had previously been convicted and sentenced on September 14, but the case was re-opened and that sentence was set aside. He pleaded guilty at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on October 4. Morgan was fined GBP66, and must pay a GBP34 surcharge.

He also had three points added to his licence.
