Live: Motorists advised to seek alternative route for journey following multi-vehicle crash
One person has been taken to hospital following a 10-car motorway collision this afternoon. Emergency services were called to the scene on the M2 Northbound around 16:14. Traffic built up across the city after the crash near the Mallusk junction close to Arthur Bridge.
The incident was passable in lane one with knock on delays back to the M2 at Fortwilliam.
A Northern Ireland Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 16:14 on Tuesday 24 October following reports of a multi vehicle RTC on the M2 Northbound. “NIAS dispatched multiple resources to incident.
Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken by ambulance to Antrim Area Hospital.” A PSNI spokesperson added: “Motorists are advised that the M2 motorway has now fully re-opened following a multi-vehicle road traffic collision near the Mallusk junction. Knock on delays are still expected.”

A statement from the PSNI this evening said: “Motorists are advised to continue to avoid the northbound section of the M2 motorway, with traffic down to one lane as police and emergency services deal with a multi-vehicle road traffic collision near the Mallusk junction. “It is anticipated that there will be delays for another hour. Please seek an alternative route for your journey at this time.”
