Long delays on motorway after lorry fire
There are long delays on a Kent motorway following a lorry fire. The M2 London-bound remains closed at junction 2 for Rochester after the fire, which broke out at 18:30 BST on Wednesday. Due to significant damage to the carriageway, resurfacing will be taking place throughout the day, National Highways said.
It reported delays of at least an hour at 11:30 on Thursday on the approach to the diversion. The entire motorway was closed between junctions 2 and 3 for several hours, but the coastbound carriage reopened in the early hours of Thursday. Two men sustained some burns to their hands and smoke inhalation, according to Kent Fire and Rescue Service.
Traffic was reported to be queueing for several miles during the morning rush hour.
