M56: Mazda badly damaged in crash which closed motorway
A black Mazda was involved in a smash on the M56. The call came at around 11.30am from between junction 8 and 9. The car went into the central reservation and a HGV was minorly involved in the crash.
A spokesperson for the Cheshire Fire and Rescue Services said at the time: “One fire engine from Lymm and one from Birchwood attended. “There had been a two vehicle collision on the M56. “Crews are currently stabilising one car containing a casualty and the motorway has been closed while the incident is being dealt with.
“Firefighters assisted by paramedics have released a casualty from one of the vehicles.” A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At 11.30am on Thursday 19 October police were called to reports of a collision on the M56 eastbound between junctions 8 and 9. “The collision involves one car, a black Mazda, which had collided with the central reservation.
“A HGV had also been involved in a minor collision with the car. “There were no reports or any serious injuries. However, two lanes were blocked while recovery work was undertaken.
“The scene was cleared by 1.45pm.”
