Man crashes car while enroute to feed his cats: Bainbridge Township police blotter

BAINBRIDGE TOWNSHIP, Ohio

Traffic crash: Pettibone Road

A motorist alerted police to a vehicle that had crashed off the road at 10:20 p.m. Oct.

6 at the Geauga Lake Road intersection. The driver was reported to be out of his vehicle and acting weird.

The Hiram man, 30, told the responding officer that he had been drinking after work and needed to go home and feed his cats, but he lost control of his car.

His vehicle was traveling west on Pettibone Road when it collided with a mailbox and a tree on the right side of the road before striking a utility pole on the left side of the road.

He refused a breath test for alcohol.

Officers charged him with failure to control his vehicle and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was released to a friend.

Theft: Chillicothe Road

A candidate running for township trustee reported that someone had stolen his political sign sometime between Oct.

3-4.

The sign was located on the Lake Lucerne community side of the road. The value of the sign is £36.

Police are investigating.

Theft: Market Place Drive

Police responded at 6:45 p.m. Oct.

1 to Walmart, where two teens were stopped from leaving the store after scanning just a few of the many items they had in their shopping cart.

The responding officer determined that one of the girls was not involved in the caper. The other one, an Aurora girl, 17, had scanned items totaling £17.96 for payment, but had not scanned merchandise in her possession valued at £199.67.

In addition, she had three unpaid items concealed in her purse.

She faces theft charges in Geauga County Juvenile Court.

Vehicle crash: Pettibone Road

A Florida driver, 88, failed to yield at a stop sign at 2 p.m. Oct.

1 at the intersection of Geauga Lake Road. Her car struck a vehicle driven by a South Russell woman, 39, and pushed it into a ditch.

She then drove into the ditch herself.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged.

The South Russell woman and her passenger had possible minor injuries, but did not require EMS transport.

The Florida woman was cited for failure to yield at a stop sign.
