Pedestrian fatally struck on N.J. road, cops say

A pedestrian was killed when he was hit by a vehicle on Saturday night, Bound Brook Police Chief Richard Colombaroni said.

Police responded to a report of the crash at the intersection of East Main Street and Mountain Avenue at 9:52 p.m. Officers on the scene located a 57-year-old male pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle, officials said.

Police and medical personnel attempted life-saving measures on the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead on the scene, authorities said. The victim’s identity has not released.

The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with police.

The circumstances of the crash are still under investigation. The Bound Brook Police Department is asking anyone with information about the crash to call its headquarters at 732-356-0800.
