Police investigating Kent County commissioner over claims of inaccurate residency
KENT COUNTY, MI -- The Kent County Sheriff's Office has begun an investigation into a claim of inaccurate residency for Kent County Second District Commissioner Tom Antor.
Kent County sheriff's officials confirmed Friday, Oct.
20 they planned to start a fact-finding investigation.
The Kent County Administrator's Office also confirmed Friday in a statement that sheriff's officials had been contacted.
The statement said that a Grand Rapids television station called the county administrator's office to report they had received a tip alleging Antor no longer lived in the Second District. The tip gave specific information about a new address.
The statement also said that the sheriff's investigation is actually the second look into Antor's residency this year. Other commissioners earlier this year questioned Antor's residency, prompting the administrator's office to ask some questions.
Antor was divorced in August 2022, according to court records.
Administrators talked directly with Antor to ask if he had moved from his Sparta address since then.
He told them he had not, according to the statement.
The administrative investigation was then closed, absent further information to the contrary about the residency.
Antor did not immediately respond to an email and a voice message left by MLive/The Grand Rapids Press at his commissioner's office phone number.
