Police Report: Cat shot by pellet gun; crash victim dies; human remains found

A collection of police reports from across Southwestern Ontario Article content Local police are investigating after a cat that was shot by a pellet gun in Norfolk County.

According to the Norfolk OPP, officers responded to a house for a report of an injured animal just before noon on Oct.

5. It was determined that on Oct.

2 at around 9 a.m., the cat escaped from its home. When the owner found the feline two days later, they noticed it had been shot by a pellet gun several times.

Article content The cat has since undergone surgery and is continuing to recover from its injuries. Norfolk OPP are seeking the public’s assistance as part of their investigation.

Anyone with information can contact police at 1-888-310-1122. A driver involved in a two-vehicle collision early this month has died, Chatham-Kent police say. A rear-end crash on Bloomfield Road, about 12 kilometres south of Chatham, sent a vehicle into the ditch about 9 a.m.

4, police said. Occupants of both vehicles were taken to hospital. The driver of the rear-ended vehicle has died, police said Tuesday.

Their name will not be released out of respect for the family’s privacy.

Officers were called to a Gillard Street excavation site by a construction company after remains were found Oct.

9, police said Tuesday. “Forensic anthropologists were called in to examine the remains and determine their origin,” police said. “After a thorough examination, it has been confirmed that the remains (had) been present at the location for an extremely long time.” The remains are in the custody of the coroner’s office, police said. “The investigation has concluded, and the appropriate authorities are handling the situation.”
