Police share crucial piece of evidence as hit-and-run driver remains at large
Detectives investigating a fatal hit-and-run in a Midlands village have shared a crucial piece of evidence in a bid to catch the driver. A woman in her 80s was killed after she was struck by a van in Kings Bromley, Staffordshire[1]. The collision took place at 7.45pm on Thursday, October 19, on Yoxall Road (A515), at the junction with Church Lane.
The pensioner was tragically pronounced dead by paramedics a short while later. Her family have been informed and they're being supported by specialist officers from Staffordshire Police[2]. The village is located around six miles north of Lichfield[3].
The van drove off from the scene and Staffordshire Police believe the vehicle was one of three models - a Vauxhall Movano, Renault Master or Nissan MV400 registered between 2010 and 2019. The force believes the van's driver side wing mirror housing came off as a result of the collision and the type used is standard for those three models of van. Based on CCTV analysis, detectives believe the van had been travelling down the A515 Yoxall Road in the direction of Kings Bromley before turning left onto the A513 Alrewas Road towards Alrewas.
A fresh appeal has been made for information. Detective Chief Inspector Alan Lyford from Staffordshire Police[6] said: "Can anyone who lives in this area please check any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell cameras they have for any footage of a white van on the Thursday evening? Have you seen a damaged white van in the area?
Or did you see a vehicle acting suspiciously? If you think you know something, no matter how trivial, please do get in touch." If you have any information about this incident, contact Staffordshire Police by calling 101 quoting incident number 606 of October 19.
Alternatively, for guaranteed anonymity, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
