‘Smallest bit of information can shift investigation’: Akron police ask for witnesses in deadly hit skip

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - Akron police are asking for witnesses in a deadly hit and run accident which killed a 62-year-old woman.

Deborah Weihrauch died after being struck by a car while trying to cross in the 200 block of E.

Market St.

The impact of the crash threw Weihrauch nearly 80 feet, police added.

The accident happened at 12:52 a.m. on Oct.

5 and Weihrauch died at Summa Health Akron City Hospital on Oct.

After the accident, the driver fled the scene and remains on the loose, police said.

"Oftentimes, the smallest bit of information or evidence can shift this/any investigation," said Akron Police Captain Michael Miller.
