Reckless operation: Mapleway Drive
A motorist called police at 1:56 a.m. Oct.
24 about a car that was moving erratically. The caller just got off I-480 and was driving south on Columbia Road.
He said the car continued to speed up and slow down. The caller told police the car was swerving on the highway and came to a complete stop in the fast lane. The car was in front of him.
It eventually drove onto Mapleway Drive and went through the red flashing lights. It was now stopped and heavily smoking. There were no flames, however.
Police arrived and contacted the fire department. The car appeared to be overheating. The driver said that was why she was driving erratically.
The car died on the spot on Mapleway and was pushed off to the side of road. The driver said she would have it towed in the morning. An officer gave the driver a courtesy ride home.
Fraud: Charney Circle
A resident went to the police Oct.
19 to file a fraud report.
Unruly Juvenile: Brentwood Drive
A resident called police about a teen who was in her house. He stole and drank liquor. He pushed two adults in the house as he ran outside.
Police arrived. Olmsted Township police went to the father’s residence. The father then went to the home where the incident occurred.
The EMS became involved. The teen rode in the squad to the hospital.
Suspicious situation: Fernwood Drive
A resident called police at 6:32 p.m. Oct.
20 that a group of about eight to 10 kids who are hanging out near a tree. The caller reported they were smoking marijuana and also drinking from paper bags. They were also loud.
Police arrived. They later spoke with one of the teen’s mother, who said they were at her home but she did not want them there. If they returned, she would consider them trespassing.
Another resident said this has been an ongoing issue for the past few nights. The teens were advised to not return. If so, they would be charged with trespassing.
Car crash: Columbia Road
Police went to a crash that involved a pickup truck and a car.
One of the drivers was cited. The car would not start and had to be towed.
Parking violation: Main Street
A motorist was cited at 2:11 a.m. Oct.
21 for illegally parking overnight on the street.
Identity theft: Meadow Lane
A resident Oct.
21 reported someone tried to open a credit card in her name.
Car crash: Locust Drive
A car at 9:36 p.m. Oct.
21 crashed into in a yard and was stuck on rocks. The operator then finished a beer and threw out the can.
The airbags were deployed but no one seemed injured. Police arrived. Olmsted Township police went to a residence to try to contact the car’s owner.
The car was towed.
Railroad tracks: Columbia Road
An officer at 2:12 p.m. Oct.
22 advised three people to stay off the railroad tracks.
Traffic stop: Columbia Road
An officer stopped a car at 8:25 p.m. Oct.
22 near John Road and cited the driver for speeding.
Traffic stop: Columbia Road
A motorist was cited at 4:49 p.m. Oct.
3 for having expired plates on the car and not wearing a seat belt.
Animal: Lindbergh Boulevard
A resident called police at 5:59 p.m. Oct.
23 that her neighbor’s chickens again were in her yard. This has been an ongoing issue. The caller wanted to speak with an officer.
Police went to the chicken owner’s house to speak with him. He was advised about the situation. He said he would comply with keeping the chickens detained to his property.
However, there are a a lot of chickens.
Animal: Orchard Street
An owner at the Second Thyme Around Shop called police at 12:03 p.m. Oct.
25 and asked for assistance with a squirrel that was in her shop.
Suspicious activity: Oakwood Circle
Olmsted Falls police assisted in a call at 9:59 p.m. Oct.
25 that it appeared three people were trying to break into cars. The caller looked at footage on the doorbell camera of the group running back and forth in the area. They appeared to be men, some wearing black masks.
They seemed to come from the side of condos in a wooded area.
They tried to open the doors of three cars parked in front.
The caller wanted police to check the area.
