Teenage girl hit by car, suffers serious injuries in Braintree

A teenage girl was hit by a car and suffered serious injuries in Braintree early Sunday, according to police.

The girl was struck by a motor vehicle while on Washington Street by Milton Road around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. She was taken to the hospital, where she is being treated for serious injuries, the full extent of which are not known. She is currently stable, the Braintree Police Department said in a statement.

The driver remained at the scene after the crash. There were no signs the operator was impaired, according to the statement.

“We would like to acknowledge the efforts of the Braintree Police Officers who responded, the Braintree Fire Department, and Brewster Ambulance for their professionalism and compassion,” the statement said. “We ask that you keep this victim and her family in your thoughts and prayers.”

The investigation is open and ongoing. A Norfolk assistant district attorney from the Motor Vehicle Crash Unit and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section are assisting Braintree police.
