Third man arrested over fatal stabbing of Sid Palmer in Leicester’s Conduit Street
Police investigating the death of Sid Palmer have arrested a third man as part of their murder investigation. Mr Palmer, 59, died on Saturday after suffering a stab wound to his chest[1] while in Conduit Street in Leicester city centre[2].
Officers investigating the incident have already charged two men, aged 29 and 31, with conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm with intent. On Wednesday night Leicestershire Police[3] announced that a third man, aged 34, had been arrested earlier that day on suspicion of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm – he has not been charged.
The incident happened at around 7.30pm on Saturday, September 30. Mr Palmer was treated by East Midlands Ambulance Service[4] but died from his injuries at the scene.
The two who have been charged so far are Michael Berlin, 31, of Great Central Way, Aylestone[6], Leicester, and Nathan Pritchard, 29, of Conduit Street. They both appeared at Leicester Magistrates’ Court[7] yesterday.
No pleas were entered at yesterday’s hearing and both men were remanded into custody until their next hearing, which will take place at Leicester Crown Court on Monday, November 13.
The police are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Detective Chief Inspector Mark Sinski, who is leading the investigation said: “Our murder investigation is very much ongoing and we are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Sidney’s death.
“I would like to thank those members of the public who have contacted us with information, however I would still like to appeal to anyone who may have any information and has not as yet come forward and spoken to us. A dedicated team of detectives remain committed to gathering information and evidence and what you may know could be extremely important to our investigation so please get in touch.”
