Woman dies in Herefordshire A-road crash involving car and lorry

A woman has died following a crash involving a car and lorry near the Gloucestershire-Herefordshire[1] border. The incident took place on the A4137 in Glewstone, near Ross-on-Wye, at around 12.44pm[2]. Emergency services including an air ambulance crew rushed out to the scene close to the Forest of Dean. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said the driver of the car was in a critical condition when paramedics arrived.

She was receiving “basic life support” from bystanders when paramedics arrived. However, she was later pronounced dead at the scene. An ambulance spokesperson said: “On arrival crews discovered the driver of the car, a woman, in a critical condition.

She was already receiving basic life support from bystanders before ambulance staff began administering advanced life support. “However, despite everyone’s best efforts it sadly became apparent nothing could be done to save the woman and she was confirmed dead at the scene. Two men from the lorry were assessed and discharged at the scene.”

A road closure was set up while the incident was dealt with by emergency services.

Traffic monitoring website Inrix said the closure was lifted at around 6.30pm.
