Woman killed in lorry crash on busy Herefordshire main road

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the A4137 in Glewstone, near Ross-on-Wye, at 12.44pm and sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham to the scene. Firefighters from Ross-on-Wye and Hereford fire stations were also sent to the scene.

The road was closed in both directions by police after the crash, and remains closed as of 5.50pm while a crash scene investigation is carried out.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "On arrival crews discovered the driver of the car, a woman, in a critical condition. "She was already receiving basic life support from bystanders before ambulance staff began administering advanced life support. "However, despite everyone's best efforts it sadly became apparent nothing could be done to save the woman and she was confirmed dead at the scene.

"Two men from the lorry were assessed and discharged at the scene."
