Woman sustains ‘severe head injury’ and is fighting for life after Plumstead crash
A woman was rushed to hospital with a “severe” head injury and has been left in a life-threatening condition following a crash in Plumstead. Yesterday (October 19), at around 10:04pm, emergency services were called to the scene of a crash between the A206 and Maxey Road[1], involving a motorcycle[2] and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a 23-year-old woman, is fighting for her life in hospital.
In a statement, London Ambulance Service confirmed that it sent a number of resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer and members of their tactical response unit. The woman was treated at the scene for a severe injury before being rushed to hospital. The rider of the motorbike reportedly left the scene before police arrived.
No arrests have been made, and road closures and diversions currently remain in place whilst police conduct enquiries. A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 10.04pm yesterday (19 October) to reports of a road traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian at the junction between the A206 and Maxey Road, SE18. “We sent multiple resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer and members of our tactical response unit. “Our first medics arrived in less than two minutes.
“We treated a patient at the scene for a severe head injury before taking them to a major trauma centre.” A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service shortly after 22:00hrs on Thursday, 19 October to reports of a collision involving a motorbike and a pedestrian at Maxey Road, SE18. “Emergency services attended.
“The pedestrian, a 23-year-old woman, was taken to hospital by LAS where she remains in a life threatening condition. Story continues “Her next of kin are aware.
“The rider of the motorbike left the scene on foot prior to police arrival. “There were no arrests. “Road closures and diversions remain in place while enquiries continue.
