A14 to remain closed until this evening following serious crash
The A14 will remain closed for a number of hours following a serious crash (Image: A14 Traffic Cameras/Newsquest) Part of the A14 has reopened after a crash that left a man with serious injuries. The eastbound carriageway was closed following a serious crash involving two-vehicle near Needham Market[1] on Monday morning.
The A14 was closed in both directions while emergency services, including two air ambulances, attended the crash. Both carriageways have since reopened. According to National Highways the eastbound carriageway was expected to be closed until 8pm.
A suspected drug driver was arrested at the scene by officers[2]. A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said three ambulances, one ambulance officer vehicle and two air ambulances from Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called following reports of a pedestrian injured in a crash. One man was transported to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge by road ambulance with serious injuries.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dashcam footage in the area is being asked to contact the Roads and Armed Policing Team at Suffolk police on 101, quoting crime reference number 37/67303/23.
