A4113 crash: person left trapped in lorry near Ludlow

Emergency services were called to attend a collision between a heavy goods vehicle and a tree at around 6.30 am, with West Mercia Police closing the road as they dealt with the incident. A police spokesperson said that the A4113 towards Bromfield with the junction of the A49 has been closed, with drivers urged to avoid the area. One person was left stuck inside the lorry, with firefighters having to rescue them through the use of hydraulic cutters.

Both the fire and ambulance services were on the scene. Five fire engines arrived from Craven Arms, Ludlow and Wellington, with additional help given by the Hereford and Worcester fire service. A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 6.19am to a road traffic collision involving a lorry on The Glebe, Bromfield in Ludlow.

"One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a man and a woman who were the driver of and passenger in the lorry. "They were both assessed and had sustained non-life threatening injuries.

They received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene and were conveyed to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further treatment."
