Amazon van burst into flames after colliding with bus carrying children
Police were called to reports of a crash at 4.35pm on Monday – Terry Harris An Amazon Prime delivery van[1] burst into flames after colliding with a bus carrying children on the A47 on Monday. Pictures showed the vehicle engulfed in flames after the incident near the market town of Wisbech, Cambridgeshire[2].
The scorched van could be seen on the roadside after fire teams extinguished the flames. Cambridgeshire Police[3] were called to reports of a crash at 4.35pm on Monday. It said no arrests have been made.
The bus with children onboard was safely evacuated when emergency services arrived. The force said there were no serious injuries and both vehicles had been recovered. However, the East of England Ambulance Service said one man was taken to Peterborough City Hospital for further care.
The A47 was closed in both directions between the A141 for March and B1167 for Thorney but it reopened at around 3am on Tuesday. A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We arrived to find a well-developed fire involving a van that had spread to a bus and another van between Thorney Toll and Guyhirn. “Wearing breathing apparatus they extinguished the fire using hose reels.”
