Attempted murder arrest after Evington Road shooting in Leicester left two in hospital
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a Leicester shooting[1] left two in hospital. The incident, in Evington Road[2], rocked the community, leaving residents “terrified”. Police were called to Evington Road at around 11.20pm on Wednesday, November 22, after reports of two men being shot as they walked in the area, close to the junction with Chepstow Road.
Both men remain in hospital days after the shooting. One of the men is in a serious condition. The second man’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The incident created much shock[3] in the Evington Road area. Residents have called for peace in the wake of the shooting, with police stepping up patrols to bring reassurance to the community. Leicestershire Police said today that officers arrested in Birmingham yesterday a 29-year-old man from Leicester.
He has since been transported to Leicestershire, where he is being questioned.

Detectives said the trio were standing on the corner of Evington Road and Chepstow Road at the time the shots were fired. They have also appealed to find the driver of a white saloon car which was passing the scene.
Anyone with information about the shooting should call Leicestershire Police[5] on 101, 23*723469.
