Belfast traffic warning issued by PSNI due to Northern Ireland v Denmark match

The PSNI has issued a traffic warning for South Belfast on Monday evening. Police are advising road users to anticipate some traffic[1] disruption and to plan for potential delays in the area on November 20 due to the Northern Ireland v Denmark football match. A PSNI[2] spokesperson said: “This UEFA Qualifying fixture will take place at the National Stadium, Windsor Park, with kick off at 7.45pm.

A notified Danish fan walk is also scheduled to take place at around 5.30 – 6pm, leaving from Bradbury Place, and proceeding along Donegall Road, Donegall Avenue, and into the National Stadium.

“Supporters are advised to leave sufficient travel time for their journey as traffic congestion is likely in the area due to the expected volume of people attending the fixture. “Police added that a build-up of traffic will be expected in the M1, Boucher Road and Donegal Road areas both before and after the game.”

A spokesperson continued: “Supporters are also asked that if driving to the match, they park with consideration for local residents and businesses in the area. Please be respectful and considerate whilst walking through residential streets convenient to the stadium. “The areas around Windsor Park are ‘No Street Drinking’ zones under Belfast City Council by-laws and we would ask those by-laws are complied with.

“We hope that the match is enjoyed by all and would remind those attending to please adopt a common sense approach.”
