Birmingham: Colmore Row building targeted by pro-Palestine group

Paint splattered on building

A Palestine Action group has claimed responsibility for the act at 55 Colmore Row Four people have been arrested after paint was splattered on a building and windows were smashed in Birmingham. West Midlands Police were called to Colmore Row after the attack at about 07:00 BST.

A group of people had thrown paint on the building along with windows broken, police said. The Palestine Action group has claimed responsibility and police said arrests on suspicion of criminal damage had been made. The group said it was targeting the office building, 55 Colmore Row, which LondonMetric Property rents a space in.

It claimed the company had been targeted due to a partnership with Elbit Systems, an Israeli technology company that specialises in defence. However, a LondonMetric spokesperson denied any partnership, but said a subsidiary of Elbit Systems was a tenant in one of its buildings. They added that the Birmingham office had now been closed until further notice.

“We take the safety and security of our employees and visitors very seriously,” they said. “As the matter is now being handled by the West Midland Police we are unable to comment further at this stage.”
