Black Friday dash cam deals: These are the best bargains I’ve found …
The hours are counting down now before all the Black Friday deals disappear for another year, but there's still time to bag a bargain or two, and statistics suggest dash cams have been hot property this year. I recently did a deep dive into dash cam deals available on Amazon, you can read it here[1], but there's quite a few that have popped up from other big-name stores, so it's always worth a good look. Dash cams are becoming a bit of a motoring must-have.
Not only do they give you a chance of sharing funny motoring mishaps you spot on your journey, they could also be a key tool in getting you out of trouble if you're ever in an accident. Here's a list of some of the best dash cam deals I've spotted from some of the Black Friday[2] deals that are still on.
1. Road Angel Halo Go 1080p - was GBP99.99, now GBP69.99
I do love a discreet dash cam, and this is a decent discount from Halfords[3] on a Road Angel device that performs all the basic functions it should.
Road Angel Halo Go 1080pIt has a 140-degree viewing angle, it captures 1080p footage, but one of its stand-out features is its ability to defrost or demist the area of the windscreen it peers through by heating up gently.
Such a clever trick. I've tested one of these and I loved the compact size, and its performance was really good too. Road Angel makes some really nice kit, so don't miss this deal.
2.
Garmin Mini 2 Car-key Size Dash Cam- was GBP119.99, now GBP99.99
Now this really is a discreet dash cam. Garmin says it's the size of a car key[4], which seems a bit of a spurious claim, but it's certainly small.
Garmin Mini 2 Car-key Size Dash CamDespite its size, though, it does have some premium features. It offers 1080p recording, a 140-degree viewing angle, parking mode, and an "OK Garmin" voice command system.
If you like a minimalist look in your car, or you have limited windscreen space, this one is well worth a look.
3. Mio MiVue C420 Dual Full HD Front & Rear Dash Cam - was GBP139.99, now GBP104
I love Mio dash cams, and Currys is offering a big saving on this dual-channel device[5], which is ideal for recording front and rear views of the road.
Mio MiVue C420 Dual Full HD Front & Rear Dash CamThey are trickier to install, but this is a great entry price for full front and back coverage. Some people will prefer to have an LCD screen to work from, and this one manages to pack a small one into its diminutive frame, and I like the fact Mio offers a five-year warranty.
Not everyone will need or want a dual dash cam, but this is a great deal if you do.
4. Mio MiVue 818 1440p Dash Cam - was GBP169,99, now GBP124
Another Mio dash cam, and this one only has one camera, but it does pack in some very premium features[6].
Mio MiVue 818 1440p Dash CamFirstly, it's Quad HD, so expect some very crisp footage - and that's handy for picking out number plates from a distance away. A 2.7" LCD screen will come in handy for setting it up, and this dash cam uses its on-board GPS sensor to warn you of speed cameras, which is really handy.
5.
Viofo A119 Mini 2 - was GBP159.99, now GBP125.95
Viofo makes some really nice dash cams, I've tested plenty of them, and this one was one of my favourites.[7]
Viofo A119 Mini 2It's surprisingly compact, but still packs in plenty of features, including a G-sensor, voice control and a small LCD display. Its best feature, though, is its imaging capabilities - not only does it have 2K quad HD, but it features a Sony Starvis 2 Sensor, which is great in low light.
6. Nextbase dash cams - 50% off a second dash cam
Nextbase is one of the best dash cam brands out there, and it has a really interesting Black Friday deal[8] if you buy directly from its website.
If you invest in one dash cam, you can buy a second one at half price.
It's quite a clever deal.
The Nextbase 422GWMy recommendation would be to treat yourself to the GBP149 Alexa-enabled 422GW[9], then pick up the base model, a 122[10], for less than GBP30.
The Nextbase 122GWSo you'd get a premium, feature-rich dash cam for yourself, and a surprisingly capable entry-level dash cam to give to a friend or family member for Christmas[11].
