Thomas Stratton, aged 36 and from Acton, was discovered in his car in Acton Lane by a member of the public after being involved in a single-vehicle collision[1].

Police had been called to Acton Lane at about 12.40am on Saturday, June 3 after reports of a crash involving a black BMW, which was driven by Mr Stratton. An inquest into Mr Stratton’s death opened at Suffolk Coroners’ Court in Ipswich on Friday, November 24. The court heard that Mr Stratton was found by a member of the public, who dialled 999 and then commenced with CPR.

Despite their best efforts and the arrival of paramedics, Mr Stratton died at the scene. In the days after his death, many floral tributes[2] were left by the roadside in Acton Lane. One of these read: “Rest in peace, old friend.

Thank you for the memories.”

Speaking at the time, mayor of Sudbury councillor Jan Osborne said that her thoughts were with the family and friends of Mr Stratton.
