Bodies of four missing teens found in car that was ‘upside down and partially submerged’, North Wales police say

Four teenagers who died in a ‘tragic accident’ were found in an overturned car which was ‘partially submerged’, police have said. North Wales Police confirmed at 4:30pm today (November 21) that Jevon Hirst, Harvey Owen, Wilf Henderson, and Hugo Morris had been found in a Ford Fiesta in Snowdonia. The foursome were reported missing yesterday.

It sparked a huge search involving a police helicopter, coastguard and mountain rescue teams. The teenagers, from Shrewsbury, were said to be on a camping trip.

Now, following the release of a statement by police, Supt Owain Llewelyn gave more detail at a press conference on the search.

He said: “Police attended and located a Ford Fiesta on its roof and partially submerged in water. “The bodies of four young males were recovered, and their families have been informed. Our thoughts are with the families.

I would like to thank the emergency services, volunteer search teams, and members of the public who helped with the search.”

Jevon Hirst, Harvey Owen, Wilf Henderson and Hugo Morris, from Shrewsbury, have sadly died

Supt Llewelyn added that investigations in to the circumstances of the incident were ongoing. In an earlier statement, police said: “At present, this appears to have been a tragic accident. “This has been an extensive search involving a number of different agencies and volunteers, and this is sadly not the outcome that any of us would have wanted.

We would ask that the family be afforded the appropriate privacy and respect.”

The car was found just off the A4085 at Garreg, near Tremadog, according to reports.
