Boy and young woman arrested after Plymouth crash sparked police helicopter search
A boy and a young woman were arrested following a crash in Plymouth[1]. According to Devon and Cornwall Police[2], the occupants of the vehicle fled the scene before the police helicopter was used to track them down. The crash took place on Merrivale Road at around 11.20pm on Tuesday (November 21).
Police said that a 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old woman were arrested shortly afterwards following searches of the local area. The boy was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug Class A and taking a motor vehicle without owner content. He has been released on police bail until January 24, 2024.
Meanwhile, the young woman was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink, aggravated vehicle taking, and possession of controlled drug Class A. She has been bailed until January 29, 2024. Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police were notified at around 11.20pm on Tuesday 21 November to reports of a collision on Merrivale Road in Plymouth.
The occupants from the vehicle left the scene resulting in searches around the local area, assisted by the police helicopter. “Following searches, police arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug Class A and taking a motor vehicle without owner content. He has been released on police bail until 24th January 2024.
“Officers also arrested a 19-year-old woman on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink, aggravated vehicle taking, and possession of controlled drug Class A.
She has been bailed until 29th January 2024.”
