Bristol teens arrested after Hartcliffe minibus chase
The pursuit ended on the Wells Road in south Bristol Eight teenagers are in custody after being arrested following a police chase involving a minibus that had been reported stolen. Avon and Somerset Police said the pursuit ended on the Wells Road in Bristol on Thursday evening.
Dog units, armed officers, road patrol units and a police helicopter were involved, the force said. The teenagers, who ran from the scene when the minibus crashed, were arrested nearby. The chase had begun in the Hartcliffe area at about 17:45 GMT, police said, and ended when the minibus crashed into two parked vehicles on the Wells Road.
All eight of the teenagers, who are aged 15-17, remain in police custody and no one sustained any injuries, officers said.. The minibus is believed to have been stolen on the day of the pursuit.
‘Driven at speed’
Det Insp Jason Chidgey said it was “proactive policing” which brought “a dangerous situation to a safe conclusion”. “The vehicle was spotted by police and was driving at speed and dangerously through parts of south Bristol, making contact with a number of parked cars,” he said.
“We will now continue with our investigation and are glad we will be able to return the community minibus back to its rightful owner.”
