Bus and van crash closes A47 – multi-agency response to collision

The A47 is closed in both directions between the A141 (near March) and B1167 (near Thorney) due to a collision involving a van and bus. Teh National Highways says Cambridgeshire Police are leading a multi-agency response to the collision with East of England Ambulance Service also at scene and Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service en route. National Highways service providers have been deployed to assist the emergency services with traffic management.

Delays are likely on the approach to this closure, with additional journey times also expected on the diversion routes.

Diversion Routes

Westbound traffic is advised to follow the below diversion, which is not symbol-led.

o At the roundabout with the A141 take the 1st exit onto the A141, towards March.

o Continue to the traffic light-controlled junction with the A605 (less than 1 mile) and turn right onto the A605 towards Whittlesey/Goosetree.

o Remain on the A605 for approximately 14 miles, passing through Coates and Whittlesey, to the A605 roundabout with Flaxley Road south of Peterborough.

o At the roundabout take the 3rd exit to remain on the A605 towards Peterborough.

o Continue to the next roundabout and take the 3rd exit to join the A1139

o Travel along the A1139 for approximately 4 miles to the “Eye Roundabout” and take the 2nd exit to remain on the A1139

o At the next roundabout take the 1st exit and then at the following roundabout (Littlewood Roundabout) re-join the A47

Eastbound traffic is advised to follow the below diversion, which is not symbol-led.

o At the “Littlewood Roundabout” take the third exit southbound onto the A1139, towards Peterborough.

o Continue to the “Eye Roundabout” with the A15 and take the 2nd exit to remain on the A1139.

o Travel along the A1139 for approximately 4 miles and exit at J3A to join the A605.

o At the next roundabout take the 1st exit to remain on the A605

o Continue along the A605 for approximately 14 miles, passing through Whittlesey and Coates, to the traffic light-controlled junction with the A141

o At the junction turn left onto the A141 north and continue to the next roundabout to re-join the A47
