Bus passengers injured after crash with van as road closed
Four people were injured after a bus and white van crashed in the Georgian Quarter. The crash happened on Catharine Street, at around 1pm and involved a white Mercedes van and a bus. A witness told the Liverpool ECHO the bus had just left a nearby bus stop when the crash took place and passengers onboard, who had yet to sit down, ended up "falling over".
In a statement, Merseyside Police told the ECHO: "At around 1.10pm this afternoon, Wednesday November 29, we received a report of a collision on Catharine Street in Liverpool involving a bus and a white Mercedes. Four people were treated by paramedics for injuries that were not serious."
The witness said paramedics climbed through the emergency door at the rear of the bus to attend to the injured.
They said: "Once they [the passengers] left the bus they looked a bit shaken and were hobbling."

One resident who lived nearby said he was "unsurprised" the crash had happened. He added: "I see three or four crashes a year on this street".
A recovery vehicle removed the damaged white van while the bus was moved out of the way further up the road where an inspector from Arriva surveyed the damage. Catharine Street and Huskisson Street have since reopened. The Liverpool Daily Post newsletter delves into the biggest stories on Merseyside[3]
