Car containing four missing Shropshire teens found ‘on its roof’ and ‘submerged in water’
A car containing the bodies of four Shropshire[1] teenagers who went missing in Wales was found ‘on its roof’ and ‘partially submerged in water’, police have revealed. Emergency services launched a desperate search for Jevon Hirst, Harvey Owen, Wilf Henderson, and Hugo Morris after they failed to return home from a reported camping trip. The car they were believed to have been travelling in was discovered by police on Tuesday morning[2], November 21.
In a tragic statement issued by North Wales Police today, the force said four bodies had been recovered from the vehicle[3] in what appeared to be a ‘tragic accident’. A further update has been given by Supt Owain Llewelyn, who appeared outside St Asaph HQ this evening where he spoke with reporters. He told journalists that the silver Ford Fiesta the authorities had been searching for was found “on its roof” and “partially submerged in water”.
The young men were found “within the vehicle”. He added that the search was over but enquiries were ongoing to establish the circumstances that led to the car leaving the road. He thanked every agency involved in this major operation.
The teenagers were believed to have been in the Harlech/Porthmadog area for the trip. The alarm was raised when they didn’t come home as planned.
The four boys have been reported missing
In the statement released earlier this afternoon, North Wales Police said the bodies were recovered from a car which appeared to have left the road on the A4085 at Garreg, near Tremadog, in Gwynedd, north west Wales. The area is located near Snowdonia.
Supt Llewelyn added in the statement: “At present, this appears to have been a tragic accident, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the four young men at this very difficult time. This has been an extensive search involving a number of different agencies and volunteers, and this is sadly not the outcome that any of us would have wanted.
We would ask that the family be afforded the appropriate privacy and respect.”
