Car on Renfrew road deliberately set on fire as police launch investigation

A vehicle was deliberately[1] set on fire on a Renfrew[2] road in the early hours of Thursday. Emergency services were called to Arkleston Road, near Arkleston Cemetery and the footbridge over the M8, around 1.45am on November 23. The fire was extinguished and there were no reports of injuries.

Police Scotland[3] is now appealing for information and confirmed the fire is being treated as wilful. CCTV enquiries are ongoing. A group of people were seen running away from the area, over the footbridge towards Cockels Loan, around the time.

Anyone who saw what happened, saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around the time and anyone with private CCTV or dash cam footage is asked to come forward. You can call 101 quoting reference 0279 of 23 November. Alternatively, calls can be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained
