Charred remains of burnt-out car that smashed into lamppost like a scene from horror movie

Dramatic pictures show the aftermath of a late-night smash which saw a car crash[1] into a lamppost before being reportedly torched. Witnesses claim emergency services arrived at the scene in Hemlington just before midnight after a “car crashed into a pole, after which it was set on fire[2]“, on Saturday. Pictures taken on Sunday morning show the car has been completely destroyed[3] by the blaze and is standing on its bonnet.

One resident at the scene said: “It’s like something from a movie!” Videos from the scene show a large orange blur as fire engulfed the vehicle with smoke billowing into the air, and firefighters can then be seen battling the flames in an effort to put it out.
