Crash CLOSES major motorway in both directions as emergency crews race to smash scene
A MAJOR Scots motorway was closed in both directions this evening following a horror smash. The section of the M8 near Newbridge, near Edinburgh[1], was forced to close between junctions two and three just after 5pm which caused traffic chaos.

Emergency crews raced to the scene after the alarm was raised following reports of a single vehicle crash. Police Scotland[2] warned drivers on X, formerly known as Twitter[3], that the motorway was shut in both directions.
And motorists were urged to use alternative routes A male van driver was taken to hospital after the crash.
The road reopened at around 6.10pm but one lane is still closed, Traffic Scotland said. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.10pm on Saturday, 4 November, 2023, we were made aware of a single vehicle crash on the M8 westbound near junction 2, Newbridge.
“Emergency services attended and the male driver of the van was taken to hospital. “The road reopened around 6.10pm.”
