Devon man arrested after kids injured in crash

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a crash left a woman and two children injured. Emergency services rushed to the incident on the A382 near Whiddon Down, Okehampton, at around 7.45pm yesterday (October 31). A road closure was in place at Sticklepath and the Ring Hill junction while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Police say a female driver and two children suffered injuries which are not believed to be serious. A man in his 30s from the Okehampton area was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and remains in police custody. The road reopened at 10.50pm.

In a full statement, a Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson told Devon Live: "Police were called at 7.45pm on Tuesday 31 October following a collision between a van and a car on the A382 near Whiddon Down, Okehampton. "The female driver and two children in the car sustained injuries, not believed serious. Ambulance attended.

"A man in his 30s from the Okehampton area was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and remains in police custody.

The road was closed at Sticklepath and the Ring Hill junction with the A382.

"Carriageway reopened at 10.50pm."
