Dramatic pictures show Audi mounted on barrier after crash which left person ‘trapped’ in car

A person was left “trapped” in a car after colliding with a barrier on a busy Nunthorpe[1] road. Police, fire, and ambulance crews were called to Guisborough[2] Road, just outside the Nunthorpe Oaks Residential Care Home, after a vehicle crashed into a metal railing beside the road. Dramatic pictures from the scene show a silver Audi mounted on top of the fence.

The incident saw a large-scale emergency response, with police closing off the road outside the care home to Guisborough Road’s junction with The Avenue. Cleveland Fire Brigade[3] confirmed that one person was freed from the vehicle and handed over to teams at the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS). The crash took place at the end of the school day which meant parents were arriving to pick their children up. Traffic was slow along Guisborough Road and Marton[4] Manor Road while the closure was in place.

Cleveland Police[5] said there were no injuries in the collision. A Cleveland Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Cleveland Fire Brigade was called out at 1.40pm today [Tuesday, November 28] to an RTC involving one vehicle which had collided into the barrier of Nunthorpe Oaks Residential Care Home.

“Two appliances attended, one from Middlesbrough[6] and one from Coulby Newham[7]. One person was trapped in the vehicle.

“Crews extricated person and handed over to NEAS. Crews are no longer at the scene.” A NEAS spokesperson said: “We received a call at 1.35pm this afternoon (Tuesday 28 November) to reports of a road traffic incident on Guisborough Road in Nunthorpe, Middlesbrough.

We dispatched a clinical team leader who treated and discharged one patient on-scene, and received support from our colleagues at the police and fire services.” Go here[8] for the latest live traffic and travel news updates from around Teesside
